Wines

The Darei wines are a pure reflection of the Dão´s terroir. They are wines the family want authentic and real – they do not follow trends, they are natural, handmade, pure, real wines, with personality and consistency.

Our natural approach to wine production allows us to enhance the terroir we are working with and get the maximum elegance and purity in our final product. We are working with relatively young vines between 10 and 15 years old, but the complexity is achieved because of all our natural elements combined: granitic soils, high thermal amplitude, altitude of our vineyards (+400m) and the grapes. All Portuguese, all from the Dão region, birthplace of Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Alfocheiro and Jaen complete the list for the reds. Encruzado, Malvasia fina, Cerceal, Bical and Verdelho for the whites.

Lagar de Darei - Sem Abrigo Red 2011

We handcraft our wines and look for personality, elegance and structure. Blends are what we do, because this is the traditional and most complete way of making balanced wines in Portugal in general and in the Dão region in particular. We love all the small hints that each grape brings to our wines and believe it also helps to increase the aging potential. Of course you can drink our wines immediately and really enjoy them, but if you want, you can also discover something new and different when they have a few more years.
